Versi Linien (a variety of lines) is the creative practice of architect and weaver Iris Drouet.

Iris works from Italy in her home studio, drawing visuals from her training in architecture and her curiosity into color interaction and materials. She weaves on a counterbalanced loom with a 150cm width, adapted to rug weaving as well as fine linen for light panels. For larger width, format may vary according to custom made design for a particular place and space, and be designed as a diptych in various panels handsewn together to form a unique piece, the way traditional textiles are composed.

In the weaving process, the work of the hands informs the wanders of the mind and the drafting of a piece in a reciprocal movement. Handweaving, being rigorous in its planning and preparation, also allows for a wide range of improvisation during the making of a piece, unique in its manner and materiality - just the way it has been for centuries of skilled weavers, men or women, who were inventing and passing on designs and symbols in the folk realm. It becomes a sort of manuscript made of lines and colour, hence Versi Linien, a variety of lines.
